NRPE_GENERIC is a NRPE compatible daemon for several operating systems like:

  • IBM AIX
  • VMWare ESX Server (Linux Management Console)
  • Linux
  • FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, DragonFly BSD
  • Mac OSX / Darwin
  • SunOS Solaris
  • may work with other UNIX systems (like HP-UX, OpenVMS)

Supported NRPE protocols:

  • NRPE 2

System requirements:

  • Perl
  • inetd or xinetd

Some facts:

  • uses standard NRPE configuration files (no special options)
  • NRPE_GENERIC does not support SSL connections by itself, but you can use stunnel
